  • Medjugorje is a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It’s been an unofficial place of Catholic pilgrimage since the Virgin Mary allegedly appeared on Apparition Hill in 1981.

 

  • Apparition Mountain. : Mount Podbrdo is the name of the “mountain” that Our Lady first appeared on, to the visionaries of Medjugorje. After the apparitions began, it became known as Apparition Mountain. It is a steep and rock-strewn path that ascends to the actual location where Our Lady appears.

  • The Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Paris, France, is the chapel where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Catherine Labouré in 1830 and requested the creation of the medal which came to be known as the Miraculous Medal. The Chapel was part of the mother house of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul. Catherine Labouré was a seminary sister (novice) there when she had her apparitions.

 

  • Tomb of St. Vincent De Paul is a church dedicated to Saint Vincent de Paul in the chapel of the Vincentian Fathers. Upon entering the Church, you’ll notice the glass reliquary containing his body high above the main altar. It is an easy climb to the reliquary by a double stairway behind the altar, to venerate his relics.

Day 15AVILA

  • We visit the Carmelite Monastery and the cell where St. Teresa lived and see relics of Teresa and St. John of the Cross. 
  • We will also tour the ancient city of Avila whose architecture and culture remain the same from centuries ago.

Day 17FATIMA – LISBON – DEPARTURE

  • If time permits (subject to flight timing), we will visit the Birthplace of St. Antony of Padua in Lisbon.

Day 04ASSISI – LORETTO - ANCONA – OVERNIGHT FERRY

  • Visit the ‘Porziuncula’ (the first Franciscan house) - the place of his death and the thorn-less rose garden.
  • Visit the remains of St. Clare and the famous Cross of San Damiano.  
  • Visit the Basilica of St. Francis, including the tombs of St. Francis and his disciples. 
  • Lunch at Restaurant. 
  • Proceed to Loreto
  • Visit the Basilica Della Santa Casa  
  • Proceed to Ancona Port.

  • Assisi is a town and commune of Italy in the Province of Perugia in the Umbria region, on the western flank of Monte Subasio. It is the birthplace of St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan religious order in the town in 1208, and St. Clare (Chiara d'Offreducci), the founder of the Poor Sisters, which later became the Order of Poor Clares after her death. 

 

  • Porziuncula, which is where St. Francis lived and worked after founding the Franciscan Order. It is also where he had his vision in 1216, during which he witnessed the Virgin Mary. Following this vision, the church was visited by a great many pilgrims, and thus the great Baroque church was also built.

 

  • Thorn-less rose garden- Outside the basilica is the Roselo, or Rose Garden. Here, you will find a very special type of rose: one without any thorns! Legend has it that in this location, Saint Francis himself rolled naked amongst the thorn bushes, in order to combat doubt and temptation. It is then said that on contact with the Saint’s body, thorn-less roses began to bloom, and they still do to this day! These special flowers can only be found in this particular rose garden, and are named Rosa Canina Assisiensis.

 

  • Basilica of St: Clare: is a church in Assisi, central Italy. It is dedicated to and contains the remains of Saint Clare of Assisi, a follower of Saint Francis of Assisi and founder of the Order of Poor Ladies, known today as the Order of Saint Clare.

 

  • Basilica of St. Francis: is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Order of Friars Minor Conventual in Assisi, where Saint Francis was born and died. It is a Papal minor basilica and one of the most important places of Christian pilgrimage in Italy. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000.

 

  • Basilica Della Santa Casa: is a shrine of Marian pilgrimage and known for enshrining the house in which the Blessed Virgin Mary believed to have lived.

  • Montichiari is a town and comune in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy. It received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on December 27, 1991.

 

  • Rosa Mystica church: Near the Italian Alps in northern Italy is the small town of Montichiari. It was here, in 1947, that the Blessed Mother appeared to a hospital nurse named Pierina Gilli. She appeared very sad, with three large swords piercing her breast. She only said: “prayer..penitence..expiation”. On December 8, 1947 Our Lady appeared once again to Pierina, after which Pierina withdrew from the world and worked in a convent in the nearby town of Fontanelle. Some 19 years later, in February 1966, Our Lady once again appeared to Pierina as she was praying in her room. Our Lady told Pierina that she would appear in Fontanelle on April 17, the Sunday after Easter that year. Our Lady did indeed appear on that date, with instructions that Pierina kiss the top steps of a well in the town, and then instructed her to place a crucifix in a place that she pointed out. This apparition was followed by another some days later in which she identified herself as the mother of Jesus and mother of all. She announced that she was sent to bring a new Marian devotion for all male and female institutes, religious orders and secular priests. She went on to request that the 13th of each month be celebrated as a day of Mary and that July 13th be celebrated in honor of “Rosa Mystica”

  • Lisieux  is a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region in northwestern France. It is the capital of the Pays d'Auge area, which is characterised by valleys and hedged farmland.

 

  • Basilica of St. Thérèse of Lisieux is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica dedicated to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. Located in Lisieux, France, the large basilica can accommodate 4,000 people, and, with more than two million visitors a year, is the second largest pilgrimage site in France, after Lourdes.

 

  • Mont St. Michelle  is an island and mainland commune in Normandy, France. The island is located about one kilometer  off the country's northwestern coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches and is 17 acres in area. The mainland part of the commune is 971 acres in area so that the total surface of the commune is 988 acres. As of 2015, the island has a population of 50. One of France's most recognisable landmarks, visited by more than 3 million people each year, Mont Saint-Michel and its bay are on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites

Day 14LOURDES

  • Visit the three main Basilicas, pray at the Grotto and drink water from the miraculous spring.
  • Visit Sacre Coeur to see the Baptismal font where St. Bernadette baptized.
  • Visit the healing waters. These are 7 pools with water coming from the Miracle Source.
  • Join the Candle Light Procession at night

  • Sacre Coeur (Sacred Heart) Parish Church is a church located in the commune of Lourdes in France.Built between 1875 and 1903, it retains many reminders of the old Parish Church of St. Peter that was destroyed. On the right hand side of the transept, is the Baptismal Font where Bernadette was baptised on 9th January 1844, as well as the statues of the Blessed Virgin and St. John the Baptist.

 

  • Healing waters which flows from a spring in the Grotto of Massabielle in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, France. The location of the spring was described to Bernadette Soubirous by an apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes on 25 February 1858. Since that time, many thousands of pilgrims to Lourdes have followed the instruction of Our Lady of Lourdes to "drink at the spring and bathe in it". Lourdes water is considered non-liturgical holy water.
